The August Moon Celebration features three Chinese cultural arts groups: the Utah Chinese Folk Orchestra, Salt Lake Chinese Dance Arts, and Utah Yuanfang Taichi Club.
Utah Chinese Folk Orchestra, established over 20 years ago in Salt Lake City, Utah, is dedicated to sharing the richness and beauty of Chinese culture through music. With approximately 50 musicians from diverse backgrounds, the orchestra brings together a vibrant community united by a passion for artistic expression and cultural exchange. Through dynamic performances and educational outreach, we aim to inspire, connect, and deepen cultural understanding. By preserving tradition while engaging modern audiences, we strive to foster harmony, celebrate heritage, and build meaningful bridges across our community.
Salt Lake Chinese Dance Art from the Chinese community of the Greater Salt Lake area.
They’ve been performing Chinese classical dance for 18 years. Today’s performance features a breathtaking journey through time and geography—spanning from the Spring and Autumn period (c. 770–476 BCE) to the Tang and Qing dynasties and stretching from the Central Plains to the Western Regions of China. Bringing ancient poetry and folktales to life, their repertoire includes exquisite pieces such as Dancing Drum of the Silk Road, and Ode to Fair Ladies, celebrating thousands of years of profound Chinese history, the elegance of its historical artistry, and the rich tapestry of its cultural heritage.
Utah Yuanfang Taichi Club is an active, community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the local community and promoting Taichi as a traditional Chinese cultural practice. Through Taichi, the club brings people of diverse backgrounds together to improve physical health and cultivate inner balance through gentle, progressive practice. Our goal is integrating Taichi into everyday life, making it a way of living that nurtures well-being and harmony, helping more people benefited from the Taichi practice.
Doors open at 6 p.m., giving guests time to explore the UCCC’s current art exhibits, grab a bite from local food trucks and enjoy a summer evening on the grounds before the concert begins.
